1. Today's Japanese words
 Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji: A Brief Overview
Hiragana and Katakana are Japanese syllabaries, each containing 46 characters representing different sounds. They are primarily used to write Japanese words, especially native Japanese words and loanwords.
Kanji are Chinese characters adopted into Japanese. They represent whole words or concepts, often with multiple meanings.
Hiragana
Hiragana is typically used for:
 * Native Japanese words
 * Grammatical particles
 * Onomatopoeia
 * Inflections
Katakana
Katakana is often used for:
 * Loanwords from other languages
 * Foreign names
 * Scientific terms
 * Emphasis
Kanji
Kanji is used for:
 * Most nouns
 * Verbs
 * Adjectives
Example:
 * 日本語 (Nihongo): Japanese (written in Kanji)
 * こんにちは (Konnichiwa): Hello (written in Hiragana)

Note: Many Japanese words are written using a combination of Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana. For example, the word "本 (hon)" means "book" when written in Kanji, but when combined with Hiragana as "本を読む (hon o yomu)," it means "to read a book."
